HC Deb 07 July 1942 vol 381 c651W
Flight-Lieutenant Boothby

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he is aware that the posting of officers in the Royal Air Force as between the various home commands has practically ceased; and whether this is in accordance with a deliberate policy laid down by the Air Council?

Sir A. Sinclair

It is the policy of the Air Council to post officers to the command for which they are best suited by their training and other qualifications and, as a general rule, to leave them in that command to complete a normal tour of duty. This applies especially to operational air crews. Any other policy would be wasteful and less efficient in utilisation of trained man-power.
