§ Mr. Grovesasked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that telegrams handed in on Sundays, Good 570W Friday and Christmas Day are charged 6d. extra in England and Wales, whereas for Scotland 6d. extra is charged on Sundays only; and the reasons for this continued disparity?
§ Mr. W. S. MorrisonThe facts are as stated in the Question. There is no general observance of Good Friday and Christmas Day in Scotland and business is carried on very much as on an ordinary day. Telegraph business is accordingly transacted under the same conditions and hence at the same charges as on an ordinary day.
