HC Deb 19 February 1942 vol 377 c1923W
Mr. Lipson

asked the Secretary of State for Air how much it would cost to restore the cuts imposed in 1935 on retired officers' pensions?

Sir A. Sinclair

I would refer the hon. Member to the general terms of the reply given by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for War on 18th February to a similar question regarding Army officers. So far as Royal Air Force officers are concerned, the estimated additional cost, corresponding to that given for Army officers, would be approximately £17,000 a year for those at present in receipt of retired pay, and between £40,000 and £50,000 a year for those who may be expected to be in receipt of retired pay at the end of the war.
