§ Mr. Stokesasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will issue instructions that, in future, a separate record is to be kept by organisers of War Loan and War Weapons' Weeks, so that subscriptions by banks and insurance companies may be readily discerned and the total genuine savings of the people so invested made available to Members of this House?
§ Sir K. WoodI cannot accept the view implied in my hon. Friend's Question that subscriptions to Government securities by banks and insurance companies do not include genuine savings, nor would it be right for me, I consider, to place a further burden on the Voluntary Savings Committees by instructing them to keep a separate record.
