HC Deb 12 February 1942 vol 377 cc1596-7W
Mr. J. H. Hollins

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been drawn to the long waiting lists of voluntary hospitals and their unwillingness to transfer them to emergency hospitals in the district in order that they may get treatment; is he prepared to recommend that the emergency hospitals be made available for people desiring treatment; and whether he has considered the action taken by the Department of Health for Scotland in this matter?

Mr. E. Brown

Where hospitals have been found to have unduly large waiting lists their attention has been drawn to the facilities which exist for transferring patients to other hospitals under the Emergency Hospital Scheme. The object in view is similar to that under the Scottish plan referred to by my hon. Friend, but the financial arrangements are not quite the same owing to the difference between the hospital systems of the two countries.
