HC Deb 04 February 1942 vol 377 c1195W
Mr. Sorensen

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is satisfied that Ceylon has an adequate supply of rice; what steps have been taken to offset any possible loss from Burma; and whether the advice given by the Ceylon Ministry of Agriculture, on 22nd August last, that a substantial increase in Ceylonese food production was imperative has been carried into effect?

Mr. George Hall

Every effort is being made to maintain and to increase Ceylon's rice and paddy stocks and also to increase food production in the island.
