Dr. Morganasked the Minister of Labour whether he can give the figures for appeals to medical referees in cases of industrial disease; and the results of those appeals for 1940, especially in such a disease as dermatitis?

§ Mr. H. MorrisonI have been asked to reply. In 1940 the number of appeals under section 43 (1) (f) of the Workmen's Compensation Act was 3,119, of which 2,430 were in respect of dermatitis. The number of cases in which the examining surgeon's decision was confirmed was 1,737 and 1,319 respectively.
