§ Sir H. Williamsasked the Home Secretary whether he will consider the abolition of black-out in urban areas, having regard to the fact that it affords no security against bombing and is responsible for many casualties and hinders all air-raid precautions activities?
§ Mr. H. MorrisonNo, Sir. The blackout has proved its value as a defence against air attack and, whilst modifications have been made in particular respects where circumstances justify them, there can be no question of its abolition in urban areas.
