HC Deb 01 December 1942 vol 385 c1042W
Sir L. Lyle

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport in how many cases in the country where traffic lights have been put out of commission policemen have had to be restored to deal with the traffic?

Mr. Noel-Baker

I regret that the information which my hon. Friend desires is not available. I may, however, remind him that traffic light signals are only discontinued where they are not at present necessary for purposes of traffic control or reasons of safety.
