§ Mr. R. Morganasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Buildings whether he will consider again the proposed rehousing of the office of His Majesty's Inspector of Taxes, Manchester 17th District, Sunlight House, Manchester, which is shortly to be transferred to Ellesmere Road, Eccles, in view 491W of the unsatisfactory nature of the accommodation to be taken over arising from overcrowding of staff which will ensue; that the staff will be split up on three or four floors, making adequate supervision much more difficult, and the absence of reasonable amenities for staff welfare; and whether he will agree to the office remaining in its existing quarters pending a further search for more adequate accommodation.
§ Mr. HicksI am advised that the accommodation to which it has been decided to move this Tax District is as satisfactory as can be expected under war-time conditions. The division of staff over more than one floor cannot be avoided; facilities for preparing meals are available and additional space is being obtained for anticipated increases of staff
