§ Sir J. Mellorasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is satisfied that the work of the Customs does not appreciably impede the clearance of goods from the port of arrival?
§ Sir K. WoodCustoms procedure in connection with the clearance of imported goods, which includes non-revenue work on behalf of other Departments, has been simplified and made flexible as far as possible subject to the requirements of those Departments. I have no evidence of delays in clearance attributable to this procedure, but if my hon. Friend has any concrete case in mind and will send me details, I will have inquiry made.
