HC Deb 08 May 1941 vol 371 c992W
Sir W. Jenkins

asked the Minister of Health whether any instructions have been issued by his Department as to the method of assessing the elementary and secondary schools for rating purposes; what are the highest 10 county areas and the lowest 10 county areas; how the county boroughs are dealt with; and whether he will consider one uniform method for the whole country and issue instructions accordingly?

Mr. E. Brown

The assessment for rating purposes of schools, as well as of other classes of hereditament, is a matter for the local authorities, and there is no authority for the issue of instructions, but advice has been given by the Central Valuation Committee of which I am sending my hon. Friend a copy. I regret that the statistical information asked for is not available.
