§ Mr. Goldieasked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that during 724W business hours there was recently seven hours' delay in telephone calls to the Manchester area from London; and whether, in the public interest, he will take such steps as may be necessary to accelerate such service?
§ Mr. W. S. MorrisonI am aware that there has recently been heavy delay on calls from London to Manchester. This is largely due to the temporary interruption of lines serving the North-West of England, and my hon. Friend may rest assured that all practicable steps are being taken to effect an improvement.
