§ Sir P. Hannon
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when the Government proposes to introduce legislation for the continuance of Part I of the War Damage Act after 31st August, 1941?
§ Sir K. Wood
Part I of the War Damage Act makes provision for payments in respect of damage to land only if it occurs during a risk period ending 611W on 31st August, 1941. I propose, there-fore, at once to introduce a short Bill to ensure that payments are made available in respect of damage occurring during a further year after that date. The Bill will make no change in the existing position with regard to contributions, which will remain payable as at present in respect of the risk period provided for in the War Damage Act. The contributions to be payable in respect of the new risk period provided for in the Bill will be left for Parliament to determine at a later stage when more comprehensive legislation relating to war damage is undertaken.
