§ Mr. Welsh
asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has considered the terms of a resolution, passed with unanimity, by the Convention of Burghs, expressing grave apprehension of local authorities at the proposals being made to 55W undermine or overrule the general structure of local government in Scotland by various forms of dictatorship; and what steps he is taking to allay the fears of local authorities?
Yes, Sir, I am aware of the apprehensions which led to the passing of the resolution referred to, and I am in full sympathy with the views expressed in it. I can assure my hon. Friend that the terms of the resolution will be kept carefully in mind.
