§ Mr. Sorensen
asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that gross profiteering by cleaners is taking place when furniture from bombed houses is sent to be cleaned; and will he take effective steps to deal with this question?
Major Lloyd George
I have so far had only one case brought to my attention in which overcharging for cleaning furniture is alleged, and I am making inquiries into it. There is at present no control of charges for services of this nature, and the institution of an effective control would present considerable difficulties.571W
