§ Dr. Littleasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade, as representing the Ministry of Food, whether, in order to save shipping space, he will have erected at the earliest possible moment abattoirs in Belfast and Derry where fat cattle and sheep can be slaughtered and the dressed meat shipped to Great Britain?

Major Lloyd GeorgeI am advised that the erection of abattoirs in Northern Ireland to provide meat for Great Britain would not achieve the object of my hon. Friend since it would be necessary also to provide specially equipped ships to transport the meat and offals in a satisfactory condition.
