Mr. Rostron Duckworthasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what has been the average payment in respect of claims for the replacement of essential furniture put forward by those who have lost their homes; and whether, in the case of dissatisfaction with the amounts awarded, such claimants have any further right of appeal?
§ Sir K. WoodThe payments which the Assistance Board have made in respect of essential furniture cover a great variety of cases. The applicants to the Board who have suffered the total loss of their homes form only a small proportion of the total, and I regret that separate information is not available about the payments made to them. The answer to the second part of the Question is in the negative.
