HL Deb 21 January 1941 vol 118 c206WA
LORD NOEL-BUXTON

asked His Majesty's Government whether it is intended to make special provision for the maintenance, care and up-bringing of children of the civilian population who have become orphans through enemy action in Great Britain.

LORD TEMPLEMORE

His Majesty's Government have decided that the State, through the Minister of Pensions, should assume a similar degree of responsibility for these children as will be exercised in regard to orphan children of ex-Service men, and the necessary arrangements are now being prepared in consultation with the other Departments concerned.

House adjourned.
