§ Mr. Leach
asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware hat a considerable proportion of registered conscientious objectors are of somewhat puny physique; that they regularly refuse farm work or other employment on the land and that employers dislike being troubled with them; and whether any alternative plan has been devised for securing proper service from them?
§ Mr. Bevin
I have been asked to reply. There are no data for a general comparison between the physique of conscientious objectors and that of other men registered under the National Service (Armed Forces) Act. With regard to the remainder of the Question I would say that up to 30th December last 86 per cent.1102W of the conscientious objectors registered for work on the land were reported as having obtained it.
