Graham-Littleasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he will name the firm which is the sole native source of supply of synthetic vitamin B 1 for the promised fortified white loaf; whether this firm is of foreign derivation and has at the present time any foreign connection?
Major Lloyd GeorgeThe name of the firm which is at present the only manufacturer of synthetic vitamin B 1 on a commercial scale in the United Kingdom is Roche Products, Limited. In regard to the second part of my hon. Friend's Question I would refer him to the first part of my reply to his Question of 20th November, 1940, which was circulated in the OFFICIAL REPORT on 21st January, 1941, and to which I have nothing to add, except that, I understand, Roche Products, Limited, also have certain contacts with the American company, Hoffman La Roche, Inc.
