The Slaughter of Animals Act, 1933, applies to the slaughtering of goats and kids in slaughterhouses within the area of any local authority unless the authority concerned has passed a resolution exempting these animals from the operation of the Act. The information available to me is to the effect that this power has rarely, if ever, been exercised.
