Major Lloyd GeorgeI am informed that the alcoholic content of what may be described as the average popular beer varies considerably in different parts of the country, and may range from 4 to about 8 degrees of proof spirit. The alcoholic content of cider ranges from 7 to 8 degrees of proof spirit, and that of British wines averages 29 degrees.
