§ LORD DAVIESasked His Majesty's Government whether, with the object of facilitating his early release from internment, they will take immediate steps to investigate the case of Dr. H. Mueller-Sturmheim, an Austrian refugee who came to this country some years ago, who established in London a Press Agency which distributed among Continental newspapers a number of articles advocating international co-operation in resistance to aggression, who was placed in the C category by the Aliens Tribunal, and who is now interned at Kempton Park.
§ THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOK INDIA AND BURMA (THE DUKE OF DEVONSHIRE)This case is being referred to the Tribunal which my right honourable friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department has appointed to consider the cases of internees who claim to come within Category 19 of the recent White Paper (Cmd. 6223).
§ LORD DAVIESasked His Majesty's Government whether, with the object of facilitating his early release from internment, they will take immediate steps to investigate the case of Dr. Hans Gutherz, a German refugee who came to this country some months before the war after being imprisoned in a Nazi concentration camp, who can produce medical evidence that he is still suffering from the effects of that experience, who was about to enter into partnership with other refugees in launching a commercial enterprise on the Treforest Trading Estate, and who is now interned at the Huyton Camp.
§ THE DUKE OF DEVONSHIREMy right honourable friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department has given careful consideration to this case. Dr. Gutherz is at present in the Lancashire County Hospital under medical observation, but the Secretary of State has decided to authorise his release as soon as the necessary arrangements can be made.
