§ Mr. Martinasked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that cases have occurred somewhat frequently of men passed on enlistment or calling-up by medical boards as Grade I being subsequently discharged from the Army as unfit, without pension or gratuity, on the ground that this disability existed prior to their calling-up; and whether he will 2025W take all practicable steps to bring this unsatisfactory state of affairs to an end?
§ Mr. AsshetonMy right hon. Friend regrets that some cases of this kind have occurred. They form only a very small proportion of the total number of examinations in which it is impossible to guarantee that errors will never occur. Every effort is made to ensure that men are properly graded in all cases.
