§ Mr. RamsbothamYes, Sir, I have seen reports in the Press on the action taken by the West Suffolk Education Committee. The Government's view on the general question thus raised was conveyed by my Department to all local education authorities in a circular issued on the 26th July last, covering a memorandum prepared by my right hon. Friend the Lord President of the Council, copies of which I am sending to the hon. Member; but the appointment of teachers or termination of their appointment remains the responsibility of the local authorities or governing bodies of the schools, as the case may be.
