HC Deb 21 March 1940 vol 358 cc2134-5W
Mr. Jenkins

asked the Minister of Labour the number of new industries established at the Treforest Trading Estate; the number of failures; and the number of men, women, boys and girls, stated separately, now employed on the estate?

Mr. E. Brown

On 29th February the number of factories in production on the Treforest Trading Estate was 99 and there were employed in those factories 1,291 men, 945 women, 430 boys and 1,028 girls, a total of 3,694. In addition there were 200 men employed on development work on the estate. I could not, without detailed inquiry, give the number of cases in which tenancies have been prematurely terminated. I may point out that the total number of factories in production on the estate has shown a continuous increase and that the number of factories and the number of persons employed in February were nearly three times as great as a year ago.
