HC Deb 21 March 1940 vol 358 c2163W
Mr. E. Smith

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will investigate the need for an extension of the travelling facilities on the railways in the North Staffordshire area and, in particular, between Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent, the Stoke-Hanley loop line and Crewe, and inform the hon. Member for Stoke of the results of the investigation and of any action taken as soon as possible?

Captain Wallace

I am advised that the London Midland and Scottish Railway Company have not received any complaints of the inadequacy of the rail services to which the hon. Member refers, and that the present services, which are in many cases only slightly less frequent than in peace-time, are sufficient for the traffic which offers. If, however, the hon. Member will let me have further particulars of any improvement in the rail services which he considers to be necessary, I shall be glad to make inquiries.
