§ Mr. Garro Jonesasked the President of the Board of Trade what vesting orders he has made against German and Italian property and businesses, respectively, under the Trading with the Enemy (Custodian) Order, 1939?
Major Lloyd GeorgeUp to 30th June, 1940, 249 Orders have been made vesting German property in the Custodian of Enemy Property. Of these Orders, 161 are in respect of shares in companies of the nominal value of approximately £1,910,000; the remaining 88 Orders are chiefly in respect of property belonging to Germans who left this country on the outbreak of war. No vesting Orders have yet been made in respect of Italian property, but a number of cases are now under examination and Orders will shortly be made.
