HC Deb 21 February 1940 vol 357 c1386W
Sir G. Fox

asked the Secretary of State for Air the name of the official of his Department who, prior to serving requisition notices, consulted the owner of the recently requisitioned land at Golden Manor Farm, Watlington, together with the date and place of meeting?

Sir K. Wood

I understand that the owner of the property was approached before service of the requisition by Mr. W. J. H. Blake, F.S.I., Lands Officer of the Air Ministry. The interview took place at the owner's residence on 30th December last.

Sir G. Fox

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether any consultation took place with the owners and occupiers concerned prior to the serving of the recent requisitioning notices in respect of the allotments at Cowley; and, if so, will he give the names of the officials of his Department present, the place and date of meeting and whom they consulted?

Sir K. Wood

The site referred to was the only one which adequately met an urgent requirement. I understand that consultation did not take place in this instance with the owners and occupiers before requisitioning as there was no possible alternative available, and valuable time would have been lost.
