HC Deb 21 February 1940 vol 357 cc1391-2W
Mr. Garro Jones

asked the Secretary of State for War what was the pay of sergeant-majors on recruiting work during the last war and what is the pay of sergeant-majors on recruiting work as Army recruiters during this war?

Mr. Stanley

The present rates of pay of Army recruiters, drawn in addition to any pension earned, vary from 52s. to 58s. 6d. a week according to locality, as against 28s. to 32s. in 1916. These posts are not held by serving soldiers and do not carry military rank.
