HL Deb 13 February 1940 vol 115 cc529-30WA
THE EARL OF MANSFIELD

asked His Majesty's Government if they will state, giving separate figures for Scotland and England, how many acres of arable land have been permanently or temporarily removed from cultivation since 1st January, 1938, and 1st September, 1939, respectively, as the result of being acquired or taken over by the Admiralty, War Office, and Air Ministry.

THE PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY OF THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND FISHERIES (LORD DENHAM)

The information asked for is not readily available and the Government do not feel that they can at the present time request the Departments concerned to incur the expenditure of time and labour necessary to furnish the particulars required.

House adjourned at twenty two minutes before four o'clock.
