§ Captain Pluggeasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether, taking the latest official statistics, he can give the annual normal consumption in pounds of sugar per head of the population; and how this figure compares with the present weekly ration aggregated over a year?
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydThe annual pre-war consumption of sugar for domestic purposes, and in the form of manufactured articles, such as jams, biscuits, confectionery, condensed milk, was approximately 100 lbs. refined value, per head of the population. The rationing of sugar to domestic users and to manufacturers will at the current rate reduce this consumption to about 75 lbs. per head annually.
