§ Mr. Toucheasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that, on Saturday, 3rd August, a considerable quantity of fish for the Army arrived at Honey Station; that it was not collected 1488W until the 5th August, when, owing to the hot weather, the fish had become uneatable; and whether he will take steps to prevent such wastage of valuable food?
§ Mr. LawI am informed that a consignment of fish was ordered by the Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes for delivery to one of their distributing centres on 19th July. Half the consignment arrived and was duly issued. The other half arrived at the local station on 20th July too late for issue. The Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes ordered it to be returned to the suppliers, but this instruction appears to have been misunderstood. This unfortunate occurrence was evidently due to a mistake, and I do not think any special steps are required.
