HC Deb 06 August 1940 vol 363 cc59-60W
Mr. Naylor

asked the Secretary of State for War why no steps have been taken to train the Local Defence Volunteer contingent, in process of formation during the past six weeks, at Elmer's End omnibus garage, Kent?

Mr. Eden

In general, Local Defence Volunteer detachments arrange as far as possible for their own training by making use of those of their members who have been in the Service. If detachments in London require outside assistance, they should apply to the liaison officer of the zone in which they are situated. This arrangement was made known to the London Passenger Transport Board, who were given the names of the liaison officers by the various zones. So far, the liaison officer concerned has not heard from this particular garage.
