§ Miss Wilkinsonasked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware of the grave difficulties unemployed men are experiencing where their children have been evacuated and who have to pay the rent and have charges on their own allowance; 1073W and whether, in view of the differences in treatment in various areas, he can indicate what allowance such a man can claim?
§ Mr. E. BrownThe practice of the Unemployment Assistance Board where children of an applicant for an allowance are evacuated is to limit the adjustment in the allowance to such amount as is reasonable in view of the fact that he is relieved of the cost of keeping the children. I am not aware that the amount of the adjustment has led to any complaint, but if the hon. Member has any particular case in mind and will let me have details I will have inquiries made.
