Williamsasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education when he proposes to assent to the request of the Governors of the Whitgift Trust for the re-opening of the Middle Whitgift School, having regard to the desire of the majority of the parents and pupils that the school should be re-opened?
Mr. LindsayIt is not proposed to assent to the re-opening of the Whitgift Middle School. The school is not on the fringes of or in a sparsely populated part of Croydon, and therefore does not satisfy the conditions on which assent may be given to the re-opening of secondary schools in evacuation areas.
