§ Mr. Parkerasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the position of women in the Auxiliary Territorial Service, the Women's Royal Naval Reserve and the Women's Auxiliary Air Force with regard to family allowances to dependants; and whether their position can be made the same as that of men serving with any of the armed Forces?
§ Sir J. SimonThere is no provision for family or dependants' allowance in the women's auxiliary forces, and it is not considered necessary to make any general change in the regulations. General service members have access to the War Service Grants Advisory Committee if in any individual case serious hardship arises through the member being unable to make sufficient provision for a dependant during her service.
