Sir C. G. Gibson
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has yet received the report from the committee appointed under the chairmanship of Mr. Andrewes Uthwatt to consider the principles of assessment of war damage for the purposes of the Government's compensation scheme; when the report will be published; and whether he has any statement to make?
§ Sir J. Simon
Yes, Sir. Mr. Uthwatt's Committee have made their first report which is being published to-day, copies of the report being available in the Vote264W Office. I am glad to take this opportunity of stating that the Government accept the principles enunciated in the report. It will be seen that the committee propose to make a further report dealing with certain classes of movable property.
