HC Deb 21 November 1939 vol 353 c1061W
Mr. R. Duckworth

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he can make any detailed statement as to the approximate dates when Christmas parcels should be posted to the troops overseas with relative certainty of securing delivery on or before 25th December?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

As the conditions which may prevail are uncertain, it is not practicable to fix any definite latest times of posting to ensure delivery by Christmas Day, but it is strongly recommended that posting to France should not be left later than 12th December, and, as regards other stations abroad, that a margin of time should be allowed as compared with previous years.
