HC Deb 14 November 1939 vol 353 cc550-1W
Mr. W. R. Duckworth

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that, in many villages full of evacuees, there is much anxiety at the possibilities of epidemics due to sewerage arrangements which were never intended for large numbers of people; and whether he will call on all medical officers in these areas to forward special reports?

Mr. Elliot

I am not aware of any foundation for widespread fear of epidemics from this cause. My officers keep in close touch with the responsible authorities on all questions affecting evacuation. I think it undesirable, in the circumstances, to add to the heavy burden of medical officers of reception areas by calling for special reports on this subject.
