HC Deb 09 November 1939 vol 353 cc454-5W
Major Carver

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether his attention has been called to the fact that Canada's wheat crop is one of the four largest in her history; and whether arrangements can be made to purchase a part of it in bulk to provide cheap feeding-stuffs for British farmers?

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

I am aware that Canada has a very heavy wheat crop, and large purchases are being made for shipment to this country. In the main how- ever, Canadian wheat is of too high a quality to be used as a feeding-stuff, and the greater part will go to human consumption.
