HC Deb 09 November 1939 vol 353 c452W
Mr. Cocks

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether he can state the result of his inquiries into the allegation that a Hucknall tradesman, whose average sales were about 28 pounds a week, received in a single week four hundredweight of butter, or 16 times as much, at a time when supplies to the Hucknall Co-operative Society were restricted to 50 and 40 per cent.?

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which my right hon. Friend gave to his question yesterday on this subject.

Mr. Cocks

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether, in view of the heavy work undertaken by coal-miners, he will increase the supply of butter to mining areas; and whether, when rationing takes place, he will consider making special provision for an increased ration for miners?

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

No supplementary allowances are considered necessary in respect of the two foods included in the present rationing scheme, having regard especially to the range of unrationed foods available. Similarly, I do not consider that any special allocation of these foods for particular classes is necessary in advance of rationing.
