HC Deb 02 November 1939 vol 352 c2119W
Mr. David Adams

asked the Home Secretary whether he has considered representations sent through his senior regional officer from the city engineer of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, dated 19th October, and a resolution unanimously passed by the officers of the rescue service of the city requesting the provision of a satisfactory uniform of a standard similar to that supplied to the Auxiliary Fire Service; and whether he has decided to accede to this request?

Sir J. Anderson

I have considered these representations, but I cannot authorise local authorities to provide for members of the rescue service any uniform other than the uniform overall which is being made available for members of air-raid precautions services.
