HC Deb 02 November 1939 vol 352 c2114W
Major Carver

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether the county war agricultural executive committees have power to enforce proper protection of all potato stacks during this winter, with the object of avoiding waste of food?

Sir R. Dorman-Smith

County War Agricultural Executive Committees have no power to enforce action for the protection of potatoes in clamps. I think, however, that farmers in their own interests may be relied upon to take all necessary steps to prevent damage to their stock of potatoes during the winter.
