HC Deb 02 November 1939 vol 352 cc2135-6W
Mr. Touche

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what complaints he has received that, in allocating the distribution of foodstuffs to different areas, no account has been taken of the increase in population in the reception areas since the war; and whether he can make any statement on this subject?

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Any such complaints would have been unjustifiable, since plans were made before war broke out to increase the supplies of all the staple foodstuffs in the reception areas. These plans have worked well. Through its divisional food offices the Ministry of Food is in daily touch with the food supply position in all areas, and immediate steps are taken, wherever practicable, to remedy faulty distribution.
