§ Mr. Kirbyasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he will arrange to increase salaries of women scientific officers employed in various Departments of the Government to the standard paid to men carrying out the same duties, keeping in mind the fact that both sexes have to have the same qualifications and that formerly these women officers were remunerated at the same rate as the males?

§ Captain CrookshankThe salaries of women scientific officers are fixed in accordance with normal Civil Service practice. The policy of His Majesty's Government underlying this practice was announced in the House of Commons on 6th April, 1936, and no change in this policy is contemplated.
