§ Mr. BernaysI regret that the desired information is not yet available as returns from a number of local authorities as to the progress of building by private enterprise without State assistance have not yet been received. During the half-year ended 31st March, 1939, 56,966 houses were completed under the Housing Acts, of which 42,149 were provided for the purpose of slum clearance.
