HC Deb 09 March 1939 vol 344 cc2364-5W
Mr. J. Henderson

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether the Board has given its approval to the acquisition by the Surrey County Council, under compulsory powers, of the site of 6.433 acres for school purposes at Chobham; whether the site has been acquired; if so, what was the price paid; for what purpose the land had been used; and what was its rateable value previous to acquisition?

Mr. Lindsay

A compulsory purchase order for the acquisition of this land was confirmed by the Board in December, 1937. The land has not yet been acquired, but I understand that the agreed price is £1,352. The land, but for a garage on one allotment, was used for allotments and as pasture. The garage was assessed for rates at £7 gross and £4 net; the allotments and the pasture were hot assessed.
