§ Mr. Parkerasked the Minister of Labour whether the Unemployment Assistance Board has agreed that a large family is in itself a special circumstance in view of which the wage-stop clause is waived; and, if that is so, why is it that no winter allowance is paid to Mr. Downham, of 5, Dagenham Avenue, Heathway, Essex, who has a wife and eight children under 13 years of age to keep on 56s. a week when his last recorded wage was 70s.?
§ Mr. E. BrownI am informed that the allowance of 56s. a week was the subject of appeal on the 14th December last and was confirmed by the Tribunal. Mr. Downham has been given a further opportunity of appeal of which, I understand, he is availing himself.
